Youthworkers Support Network

Schools

For most children and youth, the hours spent at their school and in its related activities, are a highly significant portion of their lives.  These are also significant hours for the school's teachers, staff, employees and volunteers! Local schools are a primary connection-point in any community, for serving our children and youth.

The primary role of our local schools should be focused on providing the best-quality education possible.  Too often however, the other needs of the students and community will disrupt and hamper these efforts.  Local churches should be motivated to find areas where their volunteers are welcomed and can serve, if their members are to follow Christ in being "salt and light" (Matthew 5:13-16) and by doing the "good deeds" encouraged in Scripture (cf Titus 3:8,14; Hebrews 10:24; 1 Peter 2:12).

Helping local churches serve their local schools, is best done by helping the local churches, youth workers and Christian ministries ... work together; hence, our overlapping focus on Networks and Leaders.  Good events for partnerships include on-campus Christian Clubs, Baccalaureate programs, service projects, the always needed mentoring volunteers, and of course, the annual See You at the Pole events.
